The Eastern Shore of Maryland is fortunate to have such treasures as the Chesapeake Bay and the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. It is also fortunate to have exceptional musical treasures exemplified by the sounds of CHERRYBUD, featuring Dory and Bob Hayman.
DORY HAYMAN - Songwriter, Lead Vocals, Guitar, Bass Dory grew up in a musical family in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, watching her late mother Jessica sing beautiful gospel harmony with her sisters Pat and Judy over countless piles of dishes from family holiday suppers. Her father Wayne is a talented trumpet player with stories of his performances still being retold today. While studying drama at the University of Alabama she learned how to tell stories through characters in plays and musicals. Relocating to the Eastern Shore, she completed her degree at Salisbury University. After graduating, she began singing big band with the Len Gray Orchestra and jazz with the quartet For The Moment. But Dory dreamed of going back to her Southern roots and singing her original songs, so she put together the trio Speakeasy and eventually The Dory White Band with soon to be husband, Bob Hayman. This grew into the high energy country and southern rock band that she always hoped of being part of, CHERRYBUD. The band has been invited to perform repeatedly at the area’s largest festivals including, the Delaware State Fair, Punkin’ Chunkin’, the Ocean City Springfest and Sunfest and Perdue Stadium. The band was also called on to perform at the Ocean City Convention Center for the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens. As lead vocalist for CHERRYBUD, Dory bridges the echoing spirits from her yesterdays with the new country sounds of today. With the band she performs their originals as well as putting her signature sound on favorites by Patty Loveless, Dwight Yoakam, The Eagles and others. Together with her husband Bob Hayman on lead guitar and vocals, it is obvious that the emotions that pour from their music are straight from the heart. Dory loves to tell people how lucky she feels to stand beside her gifted husband and sing to country music lovers..."I love singing for country music fans, they appreciate straight forward music played honestly and they let us know it."
BOB HAYMAN - Songwriter, Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Keyboard Bob Hayman, a Salisbury, MD native, possesses the kind of talent that could not be contained on the Delmarva peninsula. So it served as a vehicle to transport him to the musical hub of the west coast, Hollywood. As a founding member of Pegasus, Bob performed regularly at The Whisky-a-GoGo, The Troubadour and many of the city’s top clubs. His songwriting and musical chops were instrumental in the group’s winning a national competition in Reno, NV that landed Pegasus a recording contract. Bob continued to hone his musical skills in the highly competitive Los Angeles music scene where as a writer and performer, he contributed to several movie soundtracks, including Warner Brothers' "Spring Break", "Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan", and Columbia Pictures' "King of the Gypsies". He recorded with such notable producers as Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers), Tom Werman (AC/DC, Motley Crue) and Don Smith (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers). Upon returning to the east coast, Bob formed The Bonedaddys, a band that rocks many of the top clubs on the Shore today. He also started Bob Hayman Recording, a recording studio where his gifted ears guide many local area musicians to produce and record their best works. On top of all that, Bob has a strong desire to pass his musical wisdom on to others by giving lessons to countless guitarists lucky enough to find an open slot in his busy schedule. Bob has two sons, Austin and Adam, that are already displaying their musical inheritance. Although he can rock with the best lead guitarists, he loves playing what he calls "country twang". It’s Bob’s work with Dory in CHERRYBUD that displays the culmination of all his experiences best.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST! Their dynamic sound is evident in both their live performances and on their debut CD. On stage or in the studio these experienced musicians present a charismatic performance that is both energetic and soulful.
